I will be hitting tracks this summer for sure and testing the latest tires out there. The word is that the Michelin Pilot Cups are a lot wider than similarly rated tires from other manufacturers. I checked out the data on the limited 17" sizes and may order one 255/40/17 to see if it would fit on my 9.5" wide rims and also compare the tread width to the Yoko's and BFG KD's that I have sitting in the garage. Tirerack's specs on the 255 Sport Cups recommend an 8.5 - 10" rim for their 255/40/17 that has a 10.7" section width which is nearly the same as the Yoko 275 and BFG KD 275.
